Ayad Akhtar discusses American Dervish
EVENT: Ayad Akhtar appears for his debut novel American Dervish. This event is co-sponsored by the International Relations Council of Greater Kansas City.
Geoffrey highly recommends this new author: "In the heart of America at the start of the 1980's, Hayat Shah is coming of age. Challenged on all sides by contradictions, Hayat is a good student, a good son, and searching for his faith. Rare is the debut novel that lifts the veil off the reader's own eyes. American Dervish is a revelation, a provocative and brilliant moral dilemma. Can one be true to one's faith and to one's country? Without question, Ayad Akhtar is true to the storyteller's craft. Read it and cheer."
