Midwest Poets Series presents David Clewell
Rockhurst University continues the 2010-2011 Midwest Poets Series with an evening featuring poet David Clewell. The reading will be held Thursday, March 24, 2011, at 7:00 PM, in Sedgwick Hall, Mabee Theater, on the campus of Rockhurst University. Tickets are $3.00 at the door.
About the author: Missouri Poet Laureate David Clewell is the author of eight books of poems, including his latest, Taken Somehow By Surprise, winner of the Four Lakes Poetry Prize (U. of Wisconsin Press, due out early 2011). Other books include The Low End of Higher Things (Wisconsin, 2003), and two book-length poems, The Conspiracy Quartet and Jack Ruby’s America. His honors include the Felix Pollak Poetry Prize, for Now We’re Getting Somewhere (Wisconsin, 1994), and a National Poetry Series selection, for Blessings in Disguise (Penguin, 1991). His poems often appear in Poetry, The Georgia Review, Harper’s and New Letters. Clewell directs the English department’s creative writing program at Webster University in St. Louis. His collection of Charlie the Tuna iconography is now the largest in private curatorship.
