Nick Offerman will appear In Conversation about Gumption: Relighting the Torch of Freedom with America's Gutsiest Troublemakers

EVENT OVERVIEW:  Nick Offerman, Star of the NBC TV Series Parks and Recreation, and The New York Times Bestselling Author of Paddle Your Own Canoe will be In Conversation with Vivien Jennings, Founder & President of Rainy Day Books about his New Book Gumption: Relighting the Torch of Freedom with America's Gutsiest Troublemakers.

This Author Event is Co-sponsored by Rainy Day Books, INK's Middle of the Map Fest, and City of Kansas City, Missouri Parks & Recreation Department.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:  Nick Offerman is People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive 2012: Moustache Edition, currently stars in the NBC series Parks and Recreation.  His numerous television and movie appearances include roles in Childrens Hospital, 21 Jump Street, and The Men Who Stare at Goats.  He will appear on stage in Fall 2015 in the world-premiere stage adaptation of A Confederacy of Dunces.  Offerman lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Megan Mullally, where he spends his time off-set running the Offerman Woodshop, where he builds canoes, dining room tables, and mustache combs.

ABOUT THE NEW BOOK:  The star of Parks and Recreation and author of The New York Times Bestseller Paddle Your Own Canoe returns with a second Book that humorously highlights twenty-five figures from our nation's history, from her inception to present day--Nick's personal pantheon of "great Americans."  To millions of people, Nick Offerman is America.  Both Nick and his character, Ron Swanson, are known for their humor and patriotism in equal measure.  After the great success of his autobiography, Paddle Your Own Canoe, Offerman now focuses on the lives of those who inspired him.  From George Washington to Willie Nelson, he describes a few dozen of these heroic figures and why they inspire in him such great meaning.  He'll combine both serious history with light-hearted humor--comparing, say, George Washington's wooden teeth to his own experience as a woodworker.  The subject matter will also allow Offerman to expound upon his favorite topics, which readers love to hear--areas such as religion, politics, woodworking and handcrafting, agriculture, creativity, philosophy, fashion, and, of course, meat.
